Liminality

liminal

Liminal:

On the edge of things or between things. Marshy landscapes that are neither land or sea.

A term referring to in-betweens: Liminal spaces are passageways; they help us connect one phase in our lives to another.

Not quite here or there or anywhere

Trudging on through a prolonged period of lassitude, down liminal passageways

Passageway after passageway; places you aren’t meant to linger

Fleeting in and out of states of consciousness

Waiting

Watching

As you connect one phase of your life to another

Homesick for what was, for what is, for what’s coming

A few more steps, a few deep breaths

Until that final state of consciousness

Before the next cycle of liminality
